After taking two weeks off from EPQ, I am now ready to begin working on the 2000 word essay, artefact and making a start on the creation of my presentation this month for EPQ.
My supervisor, Mr Bishop emailed me deadlines that I need to have completed by the deadline of the 30th January 2017, so this is the deadline I am giving myself to getting at least:
*The 2000 word essay completed and finalised: This essay needs to make sense and present my studies coherently, as my weakness is essay writing I shall be attending to this mostly throughout my time to ensure I get this perfect so, throughout February, I can merely focus on the Artefact and presentation. By getting the hardest task complete now can help me to concentrate on the additional out standing piece of working needing to be complete before the presentation.
*Making a start on my artefact, I need to have at least make a start on the canvas, and have produced at least 40% of the work before the end of January. I plan to spend at least 1 hour a day on the artefact after school throughout this month, and perhaps extend this to 2 hours a day throughout February if progress is slow, and taking longer than anticipated.
*Begin making my presentation: This piece of work I would like to make progress on starting, so I can remember notes, and information I have presented on each slide, allowing me to present my presentation effectively without reading off from the board. Making a start on this can allow me at least 2 and half months of preparing what I plan to present and potential questions my audience may ask me, I need to be prepared and ready, so I shall be using this blog to revise back over my work and studies and get myself familiarised with my notes.
In regards towards what my supervisor expects of me, he wants my production log back by the 30th January, seen above in the pictured email. So I shall also strive to complete this asking requirement from my supervisor also.
As I enter the January month, I would also need to keep motivated and on target with my work in EPQ. Especially because I'm starting exam units from multiple subjects, so I need to ensure I'm still spending my time working on EPQ, and to remain focused and concentrated to ensure I meet these personal deadlines and targets I have set myself throughout this January month.
04/01/2017-EPQ Lesson, Mr Darby
Within this session, Mr Darby taught us about essay writing skills, and what should be expected to be seen within an essay. The skills taught today should be applied to are writing.
He advises that we should begin the written piece, focusing upon the production log-especially the planning review.
Of course, I am writing a 2000 word essay, but this information can still be applied to myself as I continue onward in drafting up the second attempt of my essay. The information given was great insight for me to think about and apply to as I continue on redrafting my essay for bishop to look over and remark to see if its of worthy standard yet.
24/01/2017
I received my experiment reflection from my subject Mr Darby in which I was able to gain the responses towards my conducted experiment. I think these responses shall work their way in nicely to my 2000 word essay and be a good reflection upon my primary research overall. The next step is to further imporve my essay by keep improving over the essay until I get it perfect, but most importantly also-to work on a EPQ question that I know I shall be happy with and can aid me further with my EPQ studies. I aim to have come up with a question by the end of January. I shall work on initial ideas tonight and present to my supervisor to see what he thinks.
However, for now the progress I am making on EPQ is good. I have worked out how to appropriately use Photoshop in order to create my photo montages for my artifact in which I have now measured and scaled each individual portrait piece to begin working on them separately over the end of this month and strive to finish before the start of March. That way I can still survey my subject and gather photos from a wide range. Now that I now how to do a photo montage, I aim to work on the artifact all throughout the February month, giving me 28 days to make a start on it and at least get a majority of it complete.
For now, I aim to write in my production log, record all actions and work that I have done throughout this month (which really has been focusing upon the artifact and how I could actually get each piece to blend with one another) - having taught myself how to do this, I can now begin to focus on wrapping up my EPQ project up by finalizing a question I'm happy with, developing my 2000 word essay, start the presentation and actually present it within a visually pleasing way, These shall be the next steps I shall focus upon and start working towards to finish the EPQ course off in time.
24/01/2017-Independent Study
I now want to start composing the entirety of my EPQ presentation so that I am prepared ad organised. Yet I wanted to start composing it now to have it complete by February so that I can start to identify myself with each of the slides so I'm not reading off the board word from word.
